- leave it out, Richard
There were 140k tickets up for sale and 40k casual staff tickets
Both were well over subscribed

There were people genuinely heart broken at not being able to go - it's a great five/ six day event and well worth the money we paid

I don't think the authorities have anything to be ashamed of, if it did not rain it would be a completely different set of pictures, which would not have been relevant to this thread, and have been a completey different experience

This is a 'non diving trip report' on a 'non diving posts' board
So, your point here is what exactly?

I was "genuinely heartbroken" when my dog died, so I doubt it would have been that genuine, if it was, there's a few people needing to get a life.

"If" is irrelevant, the point is that it did rain and it frequently does rain at that event and 180,000 people milling around on a low lying cow paddock for a week are going to cause some major problems. It's up to the organisers and the LA to ensure that the site can cope with foreseeably foul weather conditions and plainly they didn't. It's a bit like saying that if we didn't have a car crash, the seatbelts would have been unnecessary and we wouldn't have finished up in casualty. Sorry, but having dealt with the organisers of events such as this, it's generally greed (ie maximise paying customers and minimise overheads) that's the usual motivation, over and above altruistically seeing that people have a good time. (ie they don't do it "for the kids")

I wonder how the local river systems coped with that amount of extra sludge running off? Not what I'd call environmentally friendly.

Just pathetically thought I'd up my dive:non dive posting ratio.

Great report Six so glad you both had fun. Dan your photos are so fantastic it almost looks apealing. The surrounding are certainly beautiful but I am not sure that I could muster up the stamina to walk up all those hills. Now you come to mention it I didn't get any turkey or sprouts either this Chirstmas - however unlike you two I did get plenty of mulled wine!!! Looking forward to seeing you both at the next dive.

I was thinking that napalm would be more hygienic.

Unfriendly on many different levels I'd reckon.
