If you don't mind burning a bit of fuel, an R/S plate Audi A4 V6 petrol with 100k is about that. Bloody brilliant car. I had a P reg 2.6 and was the smoothest engine. You had to stick your mouth over the exhaust to see if the engine was running.

another vote for the Astra TD estate, for £3k you can get a 2004 model if you look around

Yes but it's a Vauxhall. I had one. Never, ever again. Terrible cars.

Nah, you wont. I win :-) Transit 350 - 2.5 Turbo Diesel.

Has taken 12 sets of kit and enough cylinders for two dives each + 3
divers.

Mates got a better one though, his does all that and takes 6 divers.

Land Rover Defender!

Get the hard top version. Loads of room for kit. Will tow a RHIB to boot. And when you're not diving it'll go off roading and you can enter the Mac 4x4 and raise money for cancer research. Parts are cheap and a doddle to come by...

...which is lucky as you'll spend hours replacing them That being said I adore mine, it's a beaut of a dive wagon and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. It's been from Dublin to Scapa and back with no issues whatsoever!

That being said I've been drinking heavily and nothing has gone wrong with it in the last month - take from that what you will!!

Nick Mrs Endo's motor and get her something more sensible like a Ford Ka

On a more sensible note, I'm keeping my eye out for a Mondeo TD, that will get all the kit in no problem, it's pokey enough (granted it wont pull your face off when accelerating like the Golf does), it's economic (after your golf the QE2 will seem economic) and you might be able to get it in automatic as I know you like them

The Passats are nice, but they do a 105 bhp deisel and it has less pulling ability than me, so avoid that one.

There is no real need for an estate though, after all we get it all in your golf and we still have to tip the seats down in my V40.

Arfie
