| Hi all, Now as some of you will know I doooooo like a good wind up and was talking to XeN and Hal about what we could do for our next one. I think I have come up with quite a good one but not sure if it will work so would like to know what you guys think. A friend of ours has one of those DSMBs that inflates from a small buddy bottle that you fill off your main tank before you go diving..........Now what I am thinking is if I fill his buddy bottle with helium when he launches his DSMB will it keep going when it hit the surface? Thik his face would be a picture when he launches in a puddle at 6 m and pays out 30m of line.......and then his face when he hits the surface.......or people on shore for that matter LOL any one tried this before? | This will not work Helium will not lift a DSMB more likely it will just escape from the bag due to the little moliculs. Graham (still unable to spell) |

| Bugger and it sounded like such a good idea. Mmmm will have to get me thinking cap on again. Rustferret ![]() |

| I think the crack bottle would be too heavy for it to lift off. Nice idea though. Worth a try and prove all of us cynics wrong!

| Sadly it won't launch. Put blue food dye in his gloves instead. Janos

| It wont launch it as Janos said. Mythbusters did an experiment on the lifting power of helium and really its not that good. They made a *huge* thing to try to lift one person, and even that hardly worked. Food dye is the best option. Put it into dry gloves (as in they are dry, not drygloves

| mistake number 1..... talk to everyone about your wind up before you do it! Always best to keep absolutly shtum until it's done and dusted... If it works, you all have a laugh and you egt the cred. If it goes wrong, deny all knowledge, If it doesn't work at all, no-oenes any the wiser!! |

| It won't work We filled balloons with Helium at 8m and sent them up expecting them to pop out of the water and keep going, they stuck on the surface (due to surface tension I think). When they were given a thump from below they did break the surface and fly off but it wasn't the dramatic effect we were hoping for .Susan. |
