Work started fining us a percentage of our priority payment (specialist role bonus) if we had more than average number of days sick. Last year the average was 9.5 days and I had 10 days, which was extraordinarily high for me - so they fined me the whole 10 days. Now I crawl into work with flu and when they moan about me possibly infecting the whole shift I just ask why they fine us for being off sick then.

Oh dear I was helping a friend with her children yesterday as she was completely struck down in the early hours of the morning with vomiting and continued to be very ill and weak the rest of the day.

I should be fine though cos I nipped out and had a Doner when I got home

That's not that bad if we go over we lose the lot.( i.e No SPP if you have more than 30 days OR 5 periods in 3 Years.) and you lose it until you fall back in the imposed limits
Still makes the returns on sickness look good for the stats. I'd call it blackmail but hey since when does what i think make any difference.

Cool Not me, but......

I'm fine (touch wood) but flying to Ireland tomorrow morning & my niece had it yesterday!
I have already told my sister I'm bringing a mask as she has the coughing, sneezing, headache, burning up one at the moment!
I'm going to visit the lurgy household! That is of course if the snow is cleared off the runway

But it looks like the hospitals are pretty badly affected

These are not related and the 2nd is no way as near as infectious as the first.
I have 2. Still got it, have had it since day before new years eve and have had D with it too - thankfully not V. I would currently win the Olympics for sleeping if there was such a thing. This is incredible for me as I very rarely sleep more than a few hours per night.

Sympathies to everyone who is also ill.

Maybe not, but I'm on my second dose of it having had it a few weeks before Xmas and now got it back again.

I can relate to that! I keep feeling incredibly tired even though I've slept. I've been like that for nearly 2 weeks and have felt generally 'under par' but I'm ok.

I have also been having very strong urges for red meat (hence the doner last night). As a rule I give my body what it wants, especially when it's clearly iron, and have just eaten a plate load of fried chicken livers. I'd have accompanied it with red wine (an excellent source of iron ) but have to drive to the vets later

I hope you all feel better soon

Wow, it sounds like I've had it good. Fortunately the only Iron craving I've had is for Gran Tourismo3

Get well soon everyone.

I know getting to see a GP is really tough these days but don't you think your plan is a bit drastic

Hey, don't knock it. I reckon we'd get better care and a lot more TLC at the vets
