Anyone else off with Norovirus

Hi All, hope you all had a great Christmas.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has been struck down with the winter puking illness (or whatever it's aka is). I reported to work Wednesday morning, first day back, but had to leave lunchtimeish after throwing up three times. The rest of the day was spent between my bed and the bathroom. Yesterday was marginally better as the puking stopped to be replaced by emissions from the the other end, better because it involved much less retching.

Well I'm feeling much better today and am thankful for the following reasons:

I was well enough to get over it in two days.
My long suffering girlfriend didn't abandon me (she might when she gets it)
I have to take an extra day off work to prevent spreading the virus.
I have an understanding and caring boss who insists I don't go back to work.

Have reacquainted myself with my Playstation and am catching up with Alice Cooper on the Planet Rock Breakfast Show.

Every cloud and all that.

All the best anyway.

MM

had this about 5 years ago. I remember how miserable I felt.. you have my sympathies..

It makes sense now why they put the toilet so close to either the bath or sink now (for when you are operating at boths ends at the same time)..

Unhappy

I had something similar after Christmas until New years day. I lost some weight. Not so much sickness as the other end.

i got hit with it on new years day and have been shi**ing and puking for 24hours or so. Am back in the office now as clear from symptoms for 48 hours. Didnt realise it was this thing going around.

Mother warned me this was going around as she is an A+E nurse and they are taking all restrictions rather carefully in the hospital where she works.

Nasty nasty thing. I lost about 7lbs in body weight - if anyone knows me, I cannot afford to loose even 1/2lb!

Anyway - down to 10stone 8 again, time to eat more pies!

Thanks for all the well wishers and commiserations to those who've suffered. Another point I missed from the looking on the bright side, I could do with loosing a few pounds.

There are at least two fairly infectious viruses doing the rounds at the moment:

1)Norovirus - symptoms include D&V, people should remain at home for 48 hours after the symptoms have finished.

HPA | Norovirus

2) the 2nd is just a general cold virus (NOT FLU) that is laying people up for a few days with headaches, sore throat, blurry vision etc...

These are not related and the 2nd is no way as near as infectious as the first.

I just hope I don't get this as my work are NOT sympathetic when it comes to time off. If I got it and took the government advice to stay off an extra 2 days, then I'd probably get disciplined.
