Singapore/Malaysia recommendations please

It looks like I might be whisked away to Singapore and Malaysia at the end of April. I'll be doing a bit of diving but mostly travelling around and indulging in a bit of romance......

However...... I don't like being squashed in small spaces on planes and after travelling to Australia, I said I would never go on BA again. So...... what do you think is the best airline to fly with? Is it worth paying extra for business class?

And where would be the best places in Malaysia to see?

Singapore Airlines are pretty good. My parents often use Malaysian. And Qantas have improved quite a lot over the last couple of years since they got some newer planes. Legroom's going to be much the same as BA on all of them though.

Another vote for Singapore Airlines, if you do register for their loyalty programme Kris Flyer, you will be able to check in upto 48 hours before you fly.

Business class depends on who is paying, although I always said I wouldn't fly to OZ again and not go business, guess I won't be going there for a while

Ask when you book if you can have an exit row seat, they do their best to accommodate you, I got them straight through and being in the loyalty programme has a little advantage.

Food is good and constant it was nice having noodles for breakfast instead of that rubbery egg stuff, although if you fly business you won't have that problem.

Being a native of Singapore I feel well qualified to answer this.

I think your best bet is to fly with an airline who has 747's on this route (I last flew the route in 1970) - heaps more legroom etc than the older aircraft, and fewer refuelling stops.
Can't beat BOAC although Singapore Airlines is well thought of.

As to where to go I'd certainly recommend the botanical gardens in Singapore. Raffles used to be a bit run down, but I believe it has been done up since the 60's.

Hope that helps

I remember BOAC as well - I got a 'log book' from them after I had visited the flight deck as a lad on a trip back from Singapore!

I recently used New Zealand Air and they were excellent and had quite roomy seats, but I'm not certain they fly to SIngapore and their web site seems to be down.

Funnily enough I reckon I'm going to be in 4 flours at the end of Jan just showing someone around of course.
