| Cover letters should be specific and targeted to the role and the business applied for. Do some research so you know what they do and how you are the best person for the role. Do not regurgitate your CV. Spell check and grammar check everything. Know what an apostrophe is and use it properly. Then get someone else to check both CV and letter. Then read the letter out loud to make sure that it is easy to read. Depending on mood, any spelling mistakes or errors mean that the whole application is thrown in the bin - especially if there are a lot of them to go through. Sometimes CV's go into the bin and the application is based on the cover letter and vice versa, so you need to impress the company with both - but target the cover letter, there is nothing more obvious than a cut and paste cover letter (repeated for emphasis). Employers want to know you are interested and you need to make sure that you show that interest by researching the role. Consider going to HelpMeGetAnInterview - they do a great job of both CV and cover letters. Good luck. |

Jesus, for that kind of money, I'd want more than just a little help! If I could afford £480 for someone else to look at my cover letter and CV, then I'd already be in a job that I wouldnt want to leave! Juz
