| Personally, I always look at the key skills needed for the job and make sure that the covering letter clearly shows I have them, but only briefly. I'd keep it to one page. It only needs to be brief, the cover letter gets them to read your CV, the CV gets them to offer you an interview. Juz

I agree, keep it to one page. Also look at the key skills and apply them to you. Also explain why you want to work for the particular company. Make sure that you are showing that you have looked at least at the website for that particular company and are not just churning out a generic covering letter for every single job that you are applying for. HTH and good luck Jules

Hi Sean, I can't really add to what has been said already but to add my best wishes with the job applications. I assume you have done your CV then. Have you had anyone look at your CV to highlight anywhere where it could be enhanced. Dave C

Dear xxxxxxx Having read your advertisment in xxxxxx. I can state that I have all the relevent experience and skills you are asking for. Save yourself an awful lot of time and interview me first. I can be the benchmark to judge the other applicants. When you have seen some other applicants then you will want to hire me. Please do not delay in contacting me as I am arranging two other similar interviews at present. Naturally it would be best for your company if I don't end up working for your competitors. I really look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely xxxxxxx

Thanks Ian I will try your approach next time

Gosh Ian, Not sure if that would lead to the CV being put to the top of the pile or straight in the bin for being so C**k sure.... I agree you should be positive but perhaps not so arrogant? All the best, Dave C
