Tks for the link. Although the letters are more for personal rather than business use I was able to use some bits as the structure around which my letter will grafted. Per the FSB Beagle, the important phrase is "in full and final settlement" and it is important to specifically mention the "problem". Apparently, the banking of a chq sent with such a letter is accepted in court as an agreement by the other party should that specific problem ever arise again and end up in court.
