You could buy her a small gift for when she gets up in the morning and arrange a special meal at a restaurant in the evening of her birthday. Then you could get the waiters to bring out a cake at the end of the meal but instead of saying Happy Birthday maybe they could write Will You Marry Me?? on the cake instead! And then get on your knee and give her the ring?! You will be surrounded by waiters, everyone in the restaurant will be watching and waiting with anticipation, she will say YES and you will live happily ever after.

But you have to sort things out with her parents! Ask their permission to marry their daughter and if you sense that there is a problem now is the time to talk about it.

And El Gouna is such a romantic place for a honeymoon!!

Seeing as I don't know your "intended", it's difficult to pass comment. But my tuppence worth is this!

I wouldn't want to be asked in public. I'm very private over things like that and I'd HATE the public attention, and it'd probably spark me into saying no and walking out!!! Someone here said ask her at home then go out and celebrate. Yep, I concur with that one.

As for asking the parents? Well, it's all about tradition and respect, isn't it? I hear what you say about the problems with the parents, but you say they now like you, but it's you with the issues? IMHO, let sleeping dogs lie. They've accepted you, so it's time to forget how they used to be. Asking her parents (if she's still on good terms with them) will earn you HUGE brownie points! She knows there's a little animosity between both sides, so you putting your feelings aside to ask them will please her no end! Bite the bullet and go for it!

Why don't you ask her whilst you out together walking the dog, in a natural environment and when she's at least expecting it? Make sure you're in an isolated area, but one that you both love and in the countryside??

Either that or save your money and don't do it! That's my preference!
