| On the m25 the cameras are mobile - I've been stuck on the motorway and watched them loading the cameras from the truck up to the gantry. If you look carefully you can see that there is room for a small person - or a taller one bent over - to slide the camera housing along to the correct lane. Only 1 lane per gantry can be active at any one time on the M25 gantry cams, because of the radar interference effects. Even if it looks like all lanes have a camera over them, all but one will be dummies. As far as I know, this is true for film gatsos AND digital gatsos. The only cameras that can work on multiple lanes are the ones with sensors in the road (Truvelo) and SPECS. That doesn't include the digital gantry cams on the M42 though - but I do not know of anyone who has actually had a ticket from them!
