Damn thats the route I use to get on the M1 to Leicester and I am off to there in an hour. Thanks for the heads up. Anyone got other suggestions on routes? Only ones I know is M62 east then pick up M1 and go down that way or M65, M6 then M1.

Hi,

In the past we have headed south from Scotland on the M6 and cut across on the A50. Its a quiet dual carrageway, and brings you our just south of Derby/Notts on the M1. This might save you having to get round Brum on the toll road, and then back tracking north to Leicester.

Junction 15 M6 Honey, Brings you on to the M1 at Junction 24.

Bon Voyage....

I use Google maps its great for this sort of thing. You can plan a journey and then grab the journey line on the map and 'rubber band it to other roads.

What is this language you speak of rubber banding roads? Consider yourself greened.

For anyone else planning to go over via the A66 this weekend, don't bother. My sister just got turned back on that road and said she's never driven through such a white-out.

Oh dear, another weekend of vodka and curry

Hope all are safe, warm and drive carefully.
