Cheers, that's good to know, I may give it a try this year.
(Don't know how I stand regarding carrying dive kit in the caravan for weekend trips though)

Not really surprising considering the electric hot water and central heating systems you get in caravans today.

The rules for touring caravans is total bollocks when it comes to lpg gas :-
On a static caravan you need to be Corgi registered for insurance purposes but touring dealerships do not have to have a corgi qualified person to service a touring van . It is actually an exemption from the rules & there is more chance of a fitting or something failing on a touring caravan bouncing down the road than on a static once it is on a concrete base & chained down !

Yes, must agree, the only thing they do is a pressure test and change the rubber connecting hoze to the cylinder and charge £70.

no ya muppet they inspect the installation at the switches, sockets and do tests to the wiring from the consumer unit then if its all OK you get a certificate valid for 12 months.

shows any deterioration in wiring and gives a report on the condition of the installation .I will try a find a link for the NICEIC about inspection etc

yes MIEE would have had a better ring to it.

I will scan the relevant pages from the current edition of the regs , rather than a mickey mouse outfit , tomorrow when back in work. I know for definite the NICEIC require it to be SELV and they are the top bods. now know as the Electrical Safety Council to ensure the public become more aware.

would have to look into the rules about part P though, to me its a dwelling so I would be inclined to notify /self certificate for approved installers.

zoning was brought in in the regs issued 2001, I wouldn't worry as the new regs remove the need for a lot of things in bathrooms and stipulate the requirements for RCDs protecting circuits. there may of course be other stautory documnets for Caravans that supercede the IEE regulations that permit non SELV fans. I tend to avoid caravan work like the plague as the installations are always a pain. last one I did was in the time of ' out of reach'
