Must see TV " Dexter"

ITV 10:35 Wednesday Dexter

Great series about a CSI who is a serial killer, I watched it on FX last year, IMO one of the best programs I've seen in a long time.

I watched the first couple of episodes on FX and it is a very slick and well made bit of TV, much like many US imports these days.

I cancelled the recordings on my SKY+ after a couple of episodes partly due to time constraints, but also because I felt quite uncomfortable with the subject matter and the way it was being presented.

No doubt he gets his come-uppance at some point, but it's very uncomfortable siding with the serial killer, and as a subject for a drama series it's morally challenging!

I wonder if he was an under-cover al-Qaeda terrorist operating within Keifer Sutherland's dept in 24 would he and the acts he commits be portrayed in as favourable manner?

I have to be carefull not to give any spoilers.

I think that fact that the hero of the story was a killer made it more interesting for me, it was a bit like American Psycho. His actions were justified to some extent by the fact that all his victims were criminals who he thought had "got away with it", but that opens up the debate of if a person is guilt of a crime then how should they be punished and by whom? As the series progressed you find out why he is like he is. It was just so refreshing to see something on TV that made you think and asked some hard questions of the viewer.

Yup, we caught the series by accident on FX last year and really "enjoyed" it. It's not often that you see a really good series that is just so completely different to everything else.

I'm waiting for the second series! It is based on a series of books, and I don't know if I want to read the books and hence "spoil" watching it, if they do make a second series.

I have seen both series and read both books, just waiting for the 3rd book to be released in paperback. The first book is basically the same as the 1st series but doesn't quite turn out the same. I read the second book before the second series came on tv but after reading the first couple of chapters I realised that there was no way they translate the story to tv. The 2nd series is nothing like the book.

Great series - the second season gets a bit darker when looking at the addict/compulsive side of the character. Now looking forward to the 3rd season which I understand has been commissioned.
