Course not you idiot! They're covered in breadcrumbs or batter... That bit wouldn't be transparent!

Ok ok, so what if we used jelly to coat them in before we fry them?

Wouldn't it just melt? You'd have to varnish them, I think... although that may not be too tasty!

perhaps this wraps this Firday debate up now ?

Not buying that, they didn't match the conveyor and plane speeds, as the plane clearly moves forward relative to the tarmac, and so of course takes off.

If this is so the fly at some point must have stopped - not going forward and not going backwards. During this speed reduction, stopping and then reversal it would be in contact with the forward moving object. So if we were to give the large object a name, say for argument sake call it a train that would give us the answer that a fly colliding with a train would stop it.
You raised an interesting piece of physiks, that physisisists are unable to produce sensible formulea for.

When a car accellerates from 5 to 10 mph in a given length of time it is quite easy to say what the rate of accelleration is. From 1 to 2mph ....easy.
From 0 to 0.000001mph the rate of accelleration is infinite!

Your fly does a rapid deccelleration followed by an infinately fast acceleration up to train speed. I dont care what the train does.
It probably sits out during the infinite part to write a novel.

The part that convinced me was the pilot saying that he didn't notice any difference at all.

That would depend on what colour the fish flesh turned when you cooked it.
Take chicken for example, pink when raw, white when cooked.

The part that convinced me was the pilot saying that he didn't notice any difference at all.
More evidence the plane moved forward, similar to a normal takeoff. If the pilot had said "Wow, I wasn't moving, and then just rose straight up!" then I'd have been impressed. And puzzelled as to how, and doubly puzzled as to how it din't crash straight back down again, Wily Coyote style, when the plan realised it had no airflow over it's wings, hence no lift
