Might be worth contacting the council to get residents permits or something to make life easier.

I know that there is no parking restriction along the road and that the divers are doing nothing wrong legally, bit please use the proper car parks provided to help the residents out!

With Thanks

Phil
with thanks... :-)

why dont you (The residents) use the car park to park then ?

it looks empty

Thanks for all the comments, pretty much as expected.

Obviously we are looking into residents parking, but trying to get the Council to do anything...

It will all change anyway with the Olympics, then they'll probably charge you £100 even to drive onto the Island ;-)

cheers
Phil

have to agree 6 quid is very reasonable for a day and its not like they patrol the car park early in the morning to catch out the people who have parked overnight - also the spaces are a reasonable size.

Central Manchester and Castletown aren't really comparable, are they? And the road we're talking about isn't particularly residential. It's got shops and pubs in it.

Weymouth and Portland is more expensive to park than just about everywhere else I can think of that I visit on the south coast. Many marinas, including Eastbourne, Littlehampton, etc are free. Can't remember what I used to pay in Poole, but it wasn't 6 quid.

Couldn't agree more, personally. As others have said, I'd be inclined to ask the council to introduce some sort of residents parking permit scheme or - better still (but with less change of success) - get them to drop their parking charges.

I think you just have to grin and bear it. Public parking on a public road. It's a bone of contention everywhere and I used to live for years in a place that I couldn't park near.

When I moved to Weymouth I made sure my house had

parking
an outside tap to rinse kit
a shed to keep kit in.

I still get eejits parking over my driveway. But if they park outside on the public road with unrestricted parking, not a lot anyone can do about it except:

a)moan
b)move

Last year at Old Harbour, I had to bring my kit to work and then drive home and come back to work on my bike.

That's a seaside town for you.

Bummer eh?
