skyPE Phone
I want to get a skyPE phone for the g/f as she's from Germany and I thought I'd do something nice. Would prefer a wireless handset that connects via wi-fi rather than connecting to a USB base station but that's not a major issue.

Can anyone recommend a system, cheap as chips would be better (as always) but willing to shell out a bit more for something good

You can now use Skype from a land-line or your mobile. If you have a lot of free minutes, this works really well. I use it for calling Bea when she's in Hungary. Look at the web site for details - I think there's a £1-50 monthly charge for this service.
