A toy for the rich, yes - but it's to my everlasting regret I never had the money to fly on the thing.
Then again from the inside it's not all that startling; if you're got the dollar, champers &amp; all that other nonsense are plentiful on the 747s. 757s, 767s &amp; Airbuses of this world.
Concorde for me had nothing to do with Atlantic in 3hrs, Mucho luxury, technical advancements, oil crises, Anglo-French co-operation, hideous fuel consumption, the loudest noise this side of a Disaster Area concert, no over fly areas, the septics chucking their toys out of the pram cos we got there first and even the bloody rooskies nicked it before the yanks did. Basically all the crap that's been on the news today.  No.  I have a deep and abiding love for that plane.  I spent a good 6 months working on the outskirts of London recently and the only reason so many meetings were interrupted without fail at 11am sharp was so I could watch the most beatiful aircraft the world has ever seen rip a hole through the sky on its way out from Heathrow.
The world is a duller place without her.

I got close to flying on it. &nbsp;Very close.

The charter flights from the UK &gt; bay of biscay and back to be precise.

It was booked, i was flying from RAF Fairford. &nbsp;Then the americans decided to start bombing kosovo, airshow cancelled and with it the flight.

Guess ive missed my chance now.
