| Imported post Its a sad day. Even after all her years in service people still stoped and looked up at the sky when she flew past. I used to go fishing with Harry Zeffart one of Concords cheif designers and he used to crack me up with the storys of working with the French on this project. Sadly Harry is no longer with us but I am glad he missed this day in history. Harry also invented the drop down genorator they use on most aircraft today. If the baterys fail on a plain you pop a hatch and a little propeler driven genorator pops out and supplys emergancy power. Up untill he died he still got letters and E-mails of thanks from all over the world from pilots whose lives he had saved with the unit. It was lovley to here the pride in his sons voice when he told me that story soon after his dad died. ATB Mark Chase

| Imported post <font color='#0000FF'>Could be used as a large hyperbaric chamber, according to this: Head of tiny hyperbaric unit has plans for Concorde. ...maybe Dundee will see the arrival of a chamber more suitable for divers in the near future. But I doubt it. |

| Imported post That's never occured to me, but planes are ready built chambers really. Just think, at the end of a table 6 you could be in Hurghada! But; Quote:

| Imported post Just seen all 3 fly over my office and around London. Strange how a plane can stir such emotions, todays planes still look so old-fashioned with their sticky out bits, so ungainly compared to Concorde. Oddly enough I read about Concorde in the 60's and one safety feature really stood out, the drop down generator, I was telling the guys in the office about it, small world. Matt |

| Imported post I just drove to Edinburgh Airport to see one of them land and then take off. Never seen it before. It was fantastic. Then queued for an hour to get out of the car park Dave C |

| Imported post Its a tradegy the aircraft is being retired now and this early although on a side note i will never forgive the americans for effectively killing its market value by banning it for reasons which boil down purely to the fact that it wasnt american.

Two observations: 1. the American birthright is to be loud and 2. If you've ever lived in or visited Cape Canaveral, Florida, from where the Space Shuttle blasts-off, the noise, even from 5 miles away down the coast, sets off car alarms and shakes the very deck under your feet. Looks like they just took their ball in. Bless-poppets.
