| I've never read one of the books and like Hogfather, I was looking forward to it. I have to say though that just like Hogfather, it was dissapointing, it certainly hasn't got me revved up to go and get the books. I suppose if you liked Hogfather, you'll like it and I suppose if I had read the books there will have been bits in the film that will have meant more, like in jokes or something. Arfie

| I just watched the first 15 min, but had to take the dog out for walkies, i will watch the rest later, but it seems OK without being spectacular. I did not read the books. It feels a bit like Stardust so far - Lots of props but not much story. I did not see the Hogfather.

| I sort of enjoyed the 1st part, which I watched last night. Part of the trouble is, although visually the discworld books translate to the screen, most of the humour and indeed writing talent is not in the visual description or dialogue. You will need to read the books to understand. In fact you should read the books anyway. I try not to be a purist bore when it comes to screen adaptations of Terry Pratchett books, but they do only capture a tiny part of the text. |

and I think you've nailed my problems with it. I laugh out loud reading the books. The humour is unique, clever and just plain brilliant and that is definitely lost in the TV rendition Cheers
