Am I strange?

My wife told me last night that she thought i was odd in at least one area. When ever we go out for a meal i always have a cheeky sandwhich (or some other suitable scooby snack) and hour or so before going out.

My reasons are several; First, if i'm hungry i'm less likey to enjoy the food and just wolf it down, Second, if i get hungry my patience is more brittle and if something happens (i.e. anything from poor service to global nulclear war) which delays my food my mood will spoil the evening. Third, if its crap my entire evening is not spoilt, Fourth, i might not eat everything on the menu (never seems to work that one).

I think this is reasonable and logical she thinks i'm barking mad. Please back me up so i can feel smug

Don't worry, I do pretty much the same, though maybe the interval is a little longer at say 2-3 hrs before expected meal time.

Sooo,

either you (and I) are right and you can truely feel smug, or we are the only 2 . That would make your wife right, and you, and by association me, weird.

Cheers, John

Thank god i'm not alone, she had me doubting my sanity last night. But thanks to Scubbe i now realise that she is simply speaking from a female perspective and can therefore be ignored

Its a bloke thing.
Girls are always thinking that more food = more dress size.
Blokes dont do that.

I'll not only eat a sandwich before hand, but take one with me if I can.
Mrs TaM is generally happier and more relaxed about the evening too, so think about it as insurance.

You go out for a meal at an unknown place, you dont know what the service is like or how busy their kitchen will be, you last ate at lunch and it can be over an hour after sitting down that your food arrives. Mate, I'm digesting my own stomach by then!

I'm packing that sandwich!
