| I need some advice I have a bit of a dilemma, youngest sprog is getting to long for his travel system car seat. however he is not yet heavy enough for the next seat up which all say " from 9Kg alex has been weighed this morning and is 8.1Kg so he is 900gor about 2 lbs too light. i have had a good surf on tinterwebby and can find nothing written that he will be unsafe if i do it but then again i have found nothing to say he will be safe. to my mind if he doesn't fit the seat he is in now properly then he is at more risk of injury than going in the other seat slightly light , he is not short by any stretch of the imagination. any ideas guys

| I work for a large department store, and have just the same conversation with my colleges in the Nursery department as I have just bought the second stage car seat. What they told me is it is more to do with size than weight, if your childs head is sticking up above the seat then time to move up a size.

| We had exactly the same issue with our son. He's very light for his height and we moved him out of a seat onto a booster very early. I seem to recall the guidlines had both weight OR height to cater for this. We have two Britax booster seats lying unused in the garage if you (or anyone else) can make use of them, you're welcome to one or both. |

| Hi, this is from the Mamas and Papas website for the Pro-Tec seat that we have got: Group 1 Age guideline: 9kg - 18kg (9 months - 4 years approx). I think the age and size is more important than the weight. Cheers, Mark. |

| As said above, go off heights rather that weight. Reason being you can see if the seat is too big/little and shift accordingly.
