no, after three days I gave up and phoned an animal welfare centre. They were talking about "non aggressive solutions", "non violent approaches", "humane catchment boxes" and such, so I hung up the phone, boarded up three sides of the bottom of the shed and introduced it to "not-my-highpressure-hosepipe".

What was heartbreaking was watching him just sit there and take it for ten minutes as the water hit him

When he eventually had had enough and came out he looked like a drowned rat. I had to put him in the bath and wash him. He then spent the rest of the evening wrapped in a towel in front of the fire

he's safely back under the bed now

Well I bet you've cured him of going under the shed ever again. (Or of ever letting you near him with a hosepipe).
