Mine have just brought in yet another mouse.

I have had to chase it round the living room, trap it in the hallway, then take it about 100 yards up the road so they don't just go out and catch it again. They treat them so gently that they are toys for at least a couple of hours.

Last week it was a sparrow- except that was well and truly dead. Not sleeping. Dead. And my flat was fill of feathers.

The week before that, it was a worm.... yes... a wriggly squiggly revolting earthworm.

Good job my son got a pair of el cheepo (i.e. free) gloves at the Birmingham dive show. They ahve had a fair amount of use!

We have squillions of bloody sparrows & starlings here, feral ones introduced by someone who thought it would be a nice idea (along with foxes, rabbits, blackberries etc) back in about 1886.

I'm currently training our new cat to catch and kill as many of these flying rats as possible. Phase 1 of his training which is currently underway, is the spreading of birdseed outside the window where he sits so he gets the desire to hunt. Hopefully the rest will be history.

Or a taste for birdseed?

Mine bring them back too - well 95% of each one.. I never knew what a lobotomised mouse looked like until recently. Its quite bizarre that they only remove that section in each mouse..

Fava beans anyone?

One of our cats (now passed away) caught a bat once. I haven't the faintest idea how he did it as he wasn't the most athletic of creatures.

The cat my parents had years ago once caught a frozen chicken portion, still in its plastic wrapper. Next door must've been defrosting it.

Oh and as for names, my uncle had a cat called Spot, so that he could say 'Out damned Spot'. Later on he had a cat called ND, which was short for Not the Dog.

My sister used to have two cats who were a little on the wild side. Apparently, they once worked together, caught a squirrel, and brought it in through the cat flap Apparently it was bloody huge!.
The only way they could have done that was by team work - one pulling, the other pushing.
Clever things, cats

Mine brings in rabbits but only eats the eyes and tongue - rabbit stew anyone? He's also brought a few bats in, and I have no idea how he does this (they're a bugger to catch too). Oh, and occasionally he brings me pebbles, which is a bit odd.

Our old cat, an Abbysinian used to bring back live snakes. They aren't athletic either, until they get dropped on the kitchen floor.

Not athletic? Have you never heard of racing snakes?
