| to be perfectly honest, I have no idea what you mean by a 'living wage'. It isn't a term used regularly, and it means different things to different people.There is a 'minimum income guarantee' but that refers to pensioners. Theya re not 'obliged' to recover it over the same period they over paid you, they are choosing to. They are obliged not to recover it over a period shorter. So, if they overpaid you over a month, they are not entitled to recalim it over a week. This was established due to overpayments being made for months on end, to stop employers trying to recover thousands all at once. You could try to get your union to negotiate a reduced recovery - it is something I have done on several occasions... all with public sector employers
