| Imported post Linux , yeah, I think that's pretty cool, I keep promising myself I'll buy an extra HDD and get linux installed, (got a version of Suse 7.3 Pro at home ready and waiting; tried Knoppix too but it doesn't support my Matrox graphics,) but never seem to get around to it 'cos there's always some piece of dive kit which seems more interesting |

| Imported post I'm with Steve on that one folks - I always have lots of plans for my money - even before I get it - and it usually ends up going to the DiversWarehouse - it's a weakness I know but I can't help it - like my new Buddy SMB - had to get the one with the mini cylinder even though I have 2 already - hadn't tried one of those before so why not! And I'm meant ot be saving for a holiday with my girl to America next year - and I need (or maybe thats want) a new wing as well and the suit is getting dodgy too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least i'm not alone out there Steve Dinger |

| Whilst we're on the topic of 'Norz in all things Networking', I've just got my 'D-Link DSL-604+ Wireless aDSL Router' to sync with the damned internet (after trying to work out the instructions in the, and I quote, "Quick Installation Guide", which looks like they've been rendered in Sanskrit for all the use they are) and after a call back from their techy help-desk, all seems to be flying along perfectly........except now I can't send/receive my corporate/work's email!! FFS! If they were handing out gongs for 'Best Roof Tester (i.e. "Does it Bounce from Twelve Floors Up?"

| Imported post Yup I've got a bit of a problem with 'Cheap Hock' not interfacing with my Compaq. There seems to be a Quirty control issue problem based on 10 Thumbs. I've spoken to the vendor and they seem to think this is a lack of RAM on the operators part (please explain). They suggest trying again when not Pi**ed. Not sure what they are on about, but hey Linux said no way. Surf Safe Paul

| Imported post Much as I love the idea of Linux - it's free-ish, the hackers don't go after you, the open source thing appeals to the commie in me & I wouldn't be contributing to King Bill's take-over-the-world-fund (which is why I love my Mac) - it can be a right bastard. It's all this command-line nonsense that drives me bonkers. ~more/dev etc etc? Horrible. Or is it cos I'm using the front end recommended by the manufacturers (American & on the basis of what I've seen so far I'm more convinced on a daily basis that they couldn't possibly have got to the moon). Then again, I'm probably embittered about having AIX foisted on me just recently. Yay Apple I say. |

| Imported post Thanks Paul, Thats one out of eight posts that l understand,(only just). Bear in mind that l'm in the building trade, WTF is Bren talking about when he says he's trying to connect a router (wood working machine) via his adsl thingy to the internet?? Linux?? l thought it was a nasal clearing spray Red hat?? thought they'd gone the teckie dude way and got a silly hood. Lunch break, l remember them from before l had my own business. Steve talking about buying a HOD, strange l thought why would a scientist guy want to carry bricks arround then re-read and realised in was a HDD something. Susie 7.3 pro at home ready and waiting, is this the latest blow up doll Steve??
