| Very good, but very expensive. Im a member although should leave really as dont use it enough. About the most expensive mainstream gym around. |

| Get fit Buy a bike and some small weights. Summer is here, 30 mins on the bike every night or morning. Use the weights on rainy days. |

| Snap - very good, very expensive. You'll need to make sure all four of you use it really regularly, or that'll be about £250/month sucked out of your bank account. J |

| Do you have any fitness first centres near you? They are good but most don't tend to have a pool. They are generally a bit cheaper though, mine is about 30 a month for 'gold' membership ie I can use any fitness first in the country as and when I like (assuming they are open |

| I'll have a look for one. £250pm seems like I would have to give up too much diving money for that to work! rgds Pete

| Hi, don't know how old your kids are, but i think if they are still in full time education, you can get a thing called a pasport from your council (like mine is kirklees) and then it's cheaper for using your local sports center. I.E i paye £20 signing on fee for the gym on a pay as you go tarrif, and i only pay £3 each time instead of £6. You can use it for swimming and other stuff aswell! and you just reminded me that i have not been for a run this week, think im going to go now!

| Full of tossers comparing salaries at the top of their voices: the same tossers who park their Beemers and Mercs in the disabled spots by the front door to save a short walk across the car park and are too fucking stupid to appreciate the irony. Save yourself a fortune by buying a couple of bikes. You can ride to David Lloyd's, take the piss out of the tossers and cycle home again. It'll get you fitter quicker than poncing about on a treadmill for an hour, 3 times a week. |

| I used to work in a place that had free David LLoyd membership. I thought it was possibly the best equipped gym I've been a member of, to the point of being over-equipped i.e. loads of high end stuff that no-one ever used. I wasn't overly keen on it though as the patrons generally seemed to be late middle aged people having a day out, it wasn't particularly good for motivation levels when everyone there is using exercise bikes as an uncomfy chair while they read the Daily Express or spend most of their time standing talking in the middle of the swimming lanes. It may have been the location, the time of day or it may have been the high prices, I don't know but I wasn't overly keen on it. No offence to anyone of that age group meant, but not a lot of people were really treating it like a gym, more like a social club. I joined the JJB chain of clubs. £35 a month and you can use any of their locations, you aren't tied to one club and you aren't tied to certain hours. Some of them are very well equipped, some of them not so. Cheers, Stuart

| I joined JJB in the new year and I love the facilities and as there are several within 25 mile drive i can pick and choose to go to various classes in all of them. And of course the gym has a Core power plate which my daughter has told me she has just discovered!! :O Last edited by yazzyfooty : 10-04-08 at 10:09 PM. |
