That is a toughie! While the former glory is nice: http://radpropaganda.org/wp-content/...anasonic84.jpg The S/S looks drop dead gorgeous: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2378/...12cd29715b.jpg And you were looking for a S/S weren't you? And they are SO much fun to ride.

Fixed is worth trying out for a while, best to go ss-freewheel at first though - if thats you route. Just be carefull and dont end up like the clowns argueing about it here Hipsterpad.com - Article Directory - Got hip? Who knew that hipsters where a such a bunch of snobs? The problem with taking it right back to its original parts, is that most of them were not that great - in comparison to the dual-calliper brakes and saddles available today. You either have to go super-anal about it and hunt out the right bar-ribbon and saddle etc, or dont bother at all and replace the nackered parts with whatever works.

So which one are you then Tunicates? Commuter or Hipster-urban-athlete? Chrome bag or panniers?

'fraid I'm one of the Hipster lot. S/S (albeit freewheel), courier bag, rolled up jeans and a t-shirt. But I WAS a courier at one time, so I feel justified. Recumbant - would love to have a go at one of them. Or a nice vintage delivery bike to cart dive gear around london. "Specialist cycles for specialist people"? Sounds like a fun job!
