Some good info on flicker about moding the drop outs. Ricky |

I thought the Raleigh already had horizontal dropouts? If your LBS (Local Bike Shop) is a bit more of the old fashioned workshop rather than a gleaming Evans, they may well be able to weld horizontal drop outs on for you.

If its a record sprint it will have horizontal drop-outs. They might be set for 125mm though, so you might want to get them widened to fit a more modern hub? If you are going to spend money on it it any where I would suggest some reasonably nice wheels. Thats going to pay back in terms of giving a good fast ride, and you can use them anlong with other components on a better frameset (sorry 2p Chances are you know what you're doing already anyways.....

A quick and easy single speed conversion I picked up the bike today (thanks Nick) Striped it down (sorry Nick) and put it back together in about 2 hours. I am using the rear cassette for now as I need to get some spacers for the rear wheel to allow me to fit a single cog apart from that it's all done and rides fine Ricky ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice job, Ricky. Someones already improved the brakes on it so cool bananas. Cant quite see from the pics, but if the shifter bosses are still on you might want to cut them off otherwise there's the danger of them hitting your knees if the unforseen happens.
