How much chainset do you want?

Brick Lane Bikes

They do normal singlespeed stuff too, though they are a bit 'hipster serious'.

Otherwise there's Brixton Cycles in er Brixton

Funnily enough I have just returned from Brick Lane. They have the parts but also the prices I will order a new crank online and try and pick up a set of good second hand wheels on ebay. How do you tell the size of your wheels?

Most likely yours is nominally 700c ( ETRO 622) though you may just have 27" wheels

you'll either have the former or the latter written ont he side of your tyres.

The widest that will fit will most likely be 700x28 though even this might be a squeeze.

Quick update
I have purchased a no name rear wheel from Decathlon to allow me to fit a shimano type rear cog, and a set of Sugino cranks and new Bottom Bracket from ebay.
So far my single speed conversion has cost about £210 including the bike, a bit more than expected but I have replaced most of the parts on the bike.

Thanks all for the good advice
Ricky

I bought my fixed wheelset online from [url=http://www.betd.co.uk].

They make the Goldtec brand of hubs. I got these built up onto Mavic Open Pro rims and with double butted spokes for less than £100 each all-in. The build quality has been excellent - I have run them over a year and they are still running totally true.

Paul

Nice bike by the way.

nick.h699 saw the sea in a book once
what have you done to my old bike!!!!

ricky the wheels are 700 mavics. i hardly recognise the bike now you have stripped it down. if i was you i would get rims that will let you keep those gatorskin tyres they are only a few months old and are the best tyre i've come aross for puncture resistance.

once i get out of plaster i will have to give you a race on my new bike!!!!!!
