I understand that they will be doing a special of excerpts on Sunday in tribute. According to the BBC website it will be on BBC Radio 4 on Sunday 27 April at 1200.

Poor Samantha who meticulously kept the non existent scores for Humph without ever a single complaint.
Mornington Crescent will never be the same.
A very sad loss, Humphrey Lyttelton will live long in our memories.

All the radio 4 listeners coming out of the closet now! I too will miss Humph as as for Samantha, the poor dear must be exhausted. It's amazing what smut he got away with!

I believe Samantha wore out quite a few 'seven-inchers' down in the record archive though.

Just listened to a "classic" episode from '95 and laughed for a full half hour.

My favourite Samantha-ism was a bit more recent, about how ner uncle had died and been cremated. He'd been a Navy man, so she took his ashes onto HMS Belfast and 21 sailors stood at attention while she tossed them over the side.

Nobody will be able to recreate the gavel-voiced deapan delivery of Humphrey and I hope nobody tries.
