Beavers.
Otters, like beavers (and who doesn't?), are mammals. I was watching a TV prog about giant otters and learned about how sensitive their whiskers are which, obviously, helps them hunt and stay out of danger in their murky river habitats.

I just wondered if that is why old school BSACers were normally bearded?

Although our UK climate is generally too cold to consider testing my next hypothesis I wonder if our tropical diving cousins might take to scuba diving naked and swimming cuttlefish style (legs first). This might imbue the relevant divers with enhanced sensory perception from their lower whiskers?

I for one will never look at a cuttlefish again without thinking of naked lady divers. Also I do foresee some over enthusiasm should any such lady diver be in need of surface rescue breaths?

You will note that the otter is, apparently, eating its piranha from the wrong end. When catching them it is supposed to eat them from the head done to save itself from a good chomping.
