| Your under the misapprehension that being fat means having high cholesterol and or that being skinny means you have low cholesterol I am 16 stone and my count was 6.2 my wife is 6 1/2 stone and hers is 6. If theirs an oz of fat on ling i haven't noticed it The only way to control it is by avoiding certain foods like prawns and shellfish generally, red meat, liver, crisps peanuts etc. Drink 1 large glass of red wine every day. Even then its down to your liver how much cholesterol you produce not your level of fitness. ATB Mark

No peanuts? FFS, is life worth living ............... I suppose my friend could manage a glass of red wine a day (so long as it is in 'addition to' rather than 'instead of'). Can you get low fat lager?

| 7.3? Is that bad? Does anybody have a scale? N.N is good, M.M is bad, P.P is very bad, Q.Q OMG you're going to die? I was 4.4 and had a heart attack but I tend to put it to a roughed up artery due silly hobbies. Stop eating and get religion. That covers both possible outcomes. |

| best way to control it is to take the statins IMHO. I tried the diet, benecol stuff etc and my levels actually went up! only issue I've had with the statins is that you're not allowed to eat grapefruit

| Its all in the genes ......... good luck with the diet and exercise but my advice would be to go with the statins as well. My mum has always had high cholesterol but is afood freak and always has been. She doesnt eat fat, red meat butter cream etc ...... personally i think its more to do with how your body works. In my mums case there was asuggestion that stress was a factor - diving combats stress so maybe you need to go diving a bit more .....
