car insurance companies advice

just hoping for a bit of advice / feedback as i'm due for renewal, stuck details into a comparison website & got a really good price (too good to be true?!) from "Privilege".
What I was wondering was whether anyone had used them, if so what were they like to deal with - both general admin and if you've been unlucky enough to have to claim?
Other good quotes were from Swiftcover (poor reviews on website), Lloyds TSB & Churchill.
Cheers guys, Lindsey

I used Privilege for one year as they were cheapest quote and matched my criteria. And although I never made a claim against them the following year the premium jumped up alarmingly so I didnt renew with them.

I think they sucker you in and hope you aint the sort to shop around at renewal time as many folks are like that.

This really bugs me about insurance companies - penalise loyal customers for renewing by increasing premiums.

My best quote was allways with Direct Line and I had to take out a brand new policy on the internet every year after my renewal premium shot up; new customers got such better deals. However, they have changed their policy and guarantee not to increase the premium for the second year (whether it is still cheaper than a new policy remains to be seen).

Exclamation Quotes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife's car insurance came up for renewal (Norwich Union)

It had gone up from (approx) £350 to £390

Went on confused.com and NU's came up (same cover) at £228 with £15 cashback!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rang NU and they agreed to do at the same rate

Just don't accept what the renewal says

At 213 it was about £10 more expensive than the cheapest other quote and cover was better

I'm with them - have been for a few years and happy with the premiums - always seemed pretty good - though I have had max no claims for a while.

Have just had to make a claim after a run in with a deer - painless 2 minute phone call, my car collected and rental car arranged. No form filling required and no quibbles. Happy so far (except I will be losing 2 years no claims). Will be even happier when I get my car back.

Plus Joanna Lumley is still loverly
