Experts exchange pretends to need a login but as said above, scroll right to the bottom and the answer is there.

I was going to suggest - as a home mac user and a work PC user, usually it's to do with extensions not matching - so although the file is a JPG the mac saves it as a JPEG.

We're getting the reverse now - loads of PC's which have been migrated to Office 2007 now saving files as DOCX which the repro macs won't open!

Normally i hate this sort of thing BUT the docx XML based format is SO much saner than the old .doc i'll allow MS this one.

Not always. When I first went to the answer, each post had the 'login to read' message.

Maybe it's an age of thread thing.

Associate file types

You need to associate that file with a program. Try right clicking and open with.. choose program and find your picture viewer. Click always open with this...

Could help. *.jpg could just be a double extension also.. woth checking the full file name. *.jpg is an encoding format and should work with any browser or some thing like paint.net

Except when you have half the office on Office 2007 for Windows and the other half on Office 2004 for Mac (I know there's a new version but we haven't bothered to roll it out yet, let alone Leopard !)

I agree, though, the new DOCX has some great features in it.

Install VMware Fusion, run Windows in a Virtual Machine or as part of "unity" and you can have all of these Mac / Windoze problems melt away
