in the wee hours of this morning I managed to find, and import, all my emails

So, not so much of a luddite but what I don't understand is that the required folders and files just don't show, still don't, even though I selected to show hidden files and folders.

I only managed it by just trying to import from within OE and through browsing the location found the files. Weird

I used to have to reformat my computer regularly due to messing about on sites I perhaps shouldn't have been on and downloading allsorts not to mention nasty P2P software and Outlook Express used to cause me all sorts of problems with getting data back, I always managed it, but it was a pain.

Eventually I found a program called OEBackup which sadly I think is no longer around, maybe THIS would be OK to, as I no longer use OE I cant test it.

Should help for future safekeeping of emails.

Or get an IMAP account so whatever you do you will not lose your emails as they are stored somewhere else. Best thing I ever did with my emails, can look at them on whatever machine, be it mac at home, pc at work, kids machine etc, and any changes are made to all machines.

Mine was set up by my IT chap from work, all my mail is stored on his servers, don't know enough to advise any more though

I still have no sound

I have connected the speakers (as in plugged in a line out port on back of pc) and they are powered but whatever I do no sound comes out.

Sound and audio devices' in control panel is all greyed out and I can't find anything as simple as some old speakers in "add hardware"
I'm sure it should be very simple and the pc should just find them but I am rather frustrated now

Can anyone just direct me to the solution as I'm sure its probably very obvious and I'm missing something here

Mmm, I had wondered about that and suspect that the current windows prob may be preventing it but I've never had a pop up saying "detected speakers"
