| Sky viewing card ? I have a Sky box that I have set up purely to get the "free" channels but I cannot get ch.4 or 5 & probably some others . My card is the blue one with the yellow house on it which always used to work for ch 4 & 5 . Have they changed the system as it comes up with a message to upgrade the card .

freesat from Sky - A new way to get free digital satellite TV Ignore the £150 that's only if you want to buy a box and dish too, it's as Paul says £20.

| I've just cancelled Sky. They offered me Sky+ for £50 if I stayed with them. I might have been tempted if it was free, but I have a TiVo that does most of what the Sky+ can do, and do it better. As far as I'm aware, the free-to-air stuff will continue just fine, including Channel 4 and its sibling channels. ITV and a few other channels need the Sky viewing card to stay put as they're encrypted but they didn't say they want the card back, or ask me for £20. The woman did her best to persuade me to stay, citing such quality broadcasting as Dave and the Hallmark channels. I'll be fucked when footy season starts though. If I want Sky Sports, I'll have to take the minimum £16 package out too, so that's £33 per month or £26 for just Sky Sports 1. Or go with Setanta. I reckon that's a bit steep just to watch football and a bit of Rugby Union, so I'll probably start listening to Radio 5 Live instead. |

| Nope - ITV is fine on our box with no card at all, but Channel 4 is a no show. We might get round to the freeview card one day, but on the other hand...

| I'd wait until August/September when the Freesat boxes will be including a PVR facility so then you can have satellite TV free, and the functions of a TiVo (ace!) and Sky+ for a lot less, all in the one box Thats what I am waiting for!
