My Dad had his heart bypass 3 bloomin' months before I got married.

The one thing he did say after the op and when he was back up and about was he didn't realise just how bad the problem before was. He thought the out of breath and tiredness was just him getting older, but after the main recovery after the op he said he felt what he now realises should've been normal. He was able to do the garden and everything that summer. Something he couldn't do before because he was always so tired!

I can't really remember much about it at the time. Was too worried my Dad wasn't going to be there to see my wedding day. And when we realised he was ok, there was other things to keep us busy. I just remember him feeling brilliant a few months after the op, better than he'd felt in years.

Thats where my mother had her 2nd op as she lived in Netherfields.
Big Hospital and one of the best (if not the best) in the area.

Was he on "puffer sprays" for his breathlessness?

Hi Alistair, let's face it ANY surgery performed on you or your family is major! Tripple bypass surgery is very much the bread and butter of cardiac surgegeons these days and is very frequently performed. Like Vonny, I haven't worked in that particular field for quite some time but I know the proceedure is straightforward and patients lead a normal life afterwards. I know of one who climbed Everest following his!!

I hope your dads surgery goes well and he has a speedy recovery.
