I think it is diving into shallow water from cliffs or piers.

Jumping, not diving (afaiui)

Either way, it is a ruddy stupid thing to do. I love it when they show it on seaside rescue or other programmes. I make my son watch it and drum into him how stupid it is.

Hopefully, he will grow up still realising that.

Anyway, we digress. I have thought about this thread since this morning when Sixy posted it, and I am not going to give him a round of applause for his actions.

I actually think that the husband in the OP deserved what he got. If he is the sort of man who can't accept that there are other men who are nicer than him, then he is in a sorry state.

If this is typical of his behaviour - childish, spiteful, vengeful - then I can understand why she would wander. He sounds like a completely selfish git to me.

(not condoning infidelity, by any means, but pointing out that he is not a hero. I wouldn't want him any where near me or mine for this either).

I remember watching a 'bit' on BBC News one morning, the last time tombstoning was the great Satan of the day. They'd gone down to some coastal town where the local scallies were always at it.

Reporter: So why do you and your friends do it?
Lad: Well it's a bit of a laugh and for the thrill.
Reporter: But you do know it's dangerous...
Lad: Not really...
Reporter: But...
Lad: Y'See, we always do a surface dive beforehand to check there's nothing under the surface we can't see. Then do a test jump from one of those low rocks over there. Oh, and we only ever do it after we've looked on the chart to check when high tide is...

The reporter didn't know what to say, blew his whole piece to bits.
Kids, gotta love 'em

Have to agree. If it is checked out properly before hand then it is a worth a good buzz.

I recollect being told as a lad that jumping off Hastings Pier was dangerous and that there was a sharp piece of metal buried in the sand and sticking up through the water towards the surface. I was able to advise the well meaning (I suppose) person that "no there wasn't because I had been under that spot at low tide and that the water was plenty deep enough at high tide".

Gobby little sh*t, eh (me that is )?
