I'd clocked up almost 300 dives by then, all in UK waters. Had to make my own wetsuit and ABLJ though. Look at the St.Abbs photo from1966. Very stylish don't you think?(not).

Started with PADI in green, well, more shitty brown, water. Went up to RD and then switched to TDI. Went up to deco procedures and then joined a BSAC club. Stayed a member for 9 months during which they didn't get around to teaching me anything despite me trying to take an active role in helping out at the club, so I abandoned ship. Then did some IANTD stuff to see what the difference was, and then onto GUE Fundies, TEch1 and now Tech2 this coming autumn.

I'm also in the middle of a PADI IDC now, and all being well (fingers crossed), will be teaching for Ocean View in Lancing and a couple of other places until I start TDI instructor training a bit later this year, which will be culmination of a a goal I've had ever since I did my first TDI course with Mark Powell.

Started out under PADI in 2001 UK school to Rescue Diver in 2003.
Joined BSAC Jan 2003 and completed the Dive Leader in 2004
2006 completed the OWI and Extended Range
2007 completed the Advanced Diver course, ITDA trimix, TDI blender
2008 nothing as yet, apart from a KISS try dive, which was hilarious

BSAC up to advanced diver and OWI, PADI to rescue diver to help out as a safety diver with an instructor in our club, IANTD to advanced nitrox, Mod 1 inspo' vision with PSAI, TDI deco proc' and Normoxic trimix with Mark Powell and ERD and SMG again with Mark Powell.

Any further training will be done by instructor choice as was my last courses with Mark and my MOD 1 with Matt Robinson.

I passionately believe that experience with other agencies amd their training makes for a more open minded diver........GUE aside of course

Safe diving,
Steve

totally agree and i don't think it's any coincidence that those who give others a hard time about their agency usually only have personal experience of one training system.

They must be doing somethign wrong down there... how come you have time during an IDC to post on YD? I thought it was only CD's who had that sort of time
(hope it is going well.. some will tell you all the best instructors get at least one '1' during their IDC... )
