I started to watch it but fell asleep after about 8 songs woke up during the interval act when Terry said "it isn't Riverdance"

Watching Breakfast news and apparently Terry has suggested he might not be involved next year.

I think the UK as one of the original group when it really was Eurovision put a lot of money into the event, for me it is time the UK pulled out as it is a pointless event if you are expecting a song contest now all the eastern bloc countries are involved. Most of the UK only watch to listen to Terry Wogan anyway, so if he doesn't go we should pull out.

If we split the UK entry into countries, there would at least be a chance of a mid table finish...

That's what we were debating last night. If Yuogslav etc can split into a ,myriad different countries and appear to split again each year then my suggestion is...

Scotland
Wales
Northern Ireland
Isle of Man
Jersey
Guernsey

I know that the last three are technically Crown Dependencies and not constituents of the UK, but who cares, this is the Eurovision!

We could just agree each year who we are going to all give 12 points to and away we go

I like your thinking .... the future has legs too ..... when we feel we are not doing so well in the competition we can set up a few civil wars, between Devon and Cornwall, Manchester and Liverpool, Newcastle and the rest of England etc etc (then get the Bosnians, the Serbians and the Herzegovinians to come and keep the piece for a bit) then put in separate entries to secure a win.

It's an excellent and future proofed idea .... I think we should agree that once we have split the counties, town and estates we should call an end to it all .... a singing competition between inidividual roads is probably a step too far .... plus Terry would have shuffled off his mortal coil by then anyway.
