Avram Grant's been sacked
Grant sacked as Chelsea manager

I'm no Chelsea fan but this sucks. The guy (in 8 months) got them to second place in the world's best football league and runners-up in the world's best club cup comptition.

Favourites to replace him include Frank Rijkaard, who managed to make Barcelona look ordinary this season and Sven, and we all know what a twat he is (although he himself has just been stitched up by another foreign billionaire)

At least Arsenal stand by their man as they go through a short transition back to glory

Agreed it sucks, but I bet he's walking away with at least 2-3 million quid for his trouble. Bummer eh, wish I had his problems!

Agreed it looks harsh, but lets be honest he's got a superb squad and got beaten in every competition when it got to the crunch.

I always thought he was going to be a short term fill after Jose and following him was never going to be a great job, like the poor sod who takes over from Sir AF.

Whilst Rijkaard failed this season, don't forget he won the league in his first season and the league + CL double in his second.

There was speculation that the Speshul one would come back after having a few meetings with the Russian recently, now that could be entertaining

This season's Premier League was always Man Utd's for the losing.

Chelsea had a great, but too-late comeback effort that nearly came-off but there's no shame in coming second to a side as good as Man U are right now.

As for losing to Barnsley in the FA Cup, that's down to the low level of respect that all the major clubs have shown recently for that particular tournament and, although I might be a bit biased here, the FA Cup was all the better for it this season.

EDIT: I suppose you're saying they would probably have coasted through this season with anyone in charge. A bit like New Labour inheriting a burgeoning economy and Gordon Brown taking all the credit. Maybe it's better for Avram that he's getting out now

No, there is no shame to losing to Man Utd although it wasn't always theirs, it was actually Arsenals, but thats another matter

Not only did he lose to Barnsley which was all the more shocking as 2 weeks earlier he got to see Barnsley beat Liverpool so they had fair warning, but he also lost in the League Cup final too. I would say he was lucky to even get to the Champions League final, but I sadly I'm not totally convinced.

And yes, I do think pretty much any manager would have got a similar result from the squad at his disposal, but I always thought he was a patsy with the poison challace having to follow Mourinho.

I think it's shocking (I've had a few though ). Even Man City are at it. 2 managers who have worked wonders for their clubs. As far as I'm concerned it's disgraceful.

Too much money and no sense.
