Kaiser Chiefs at Elland Road

Dunno if anyone else from here was there yesterday afternoon, but it was just brilliant.

Friendly Fires were just top. Really good new band to look out for.
The Young Knives - not brilliant. A couple of songs I knew but the rest were a bit boring.
Kate Nash - OK. Great piano player but also a bit boring IMHO.
The Enemy were really good.

But then the surprises started.

Mark Ronson then came on stage and started DJ'ing for an hour whilst they prepared the stage for the Kaisers. Really good DJ and such a surprise.

But then the Kaisers came on at 8:40 and it was just awesome. To say you have the band in what could be called their spiritual home, Elland Road, full of Leeds supporters, the atmosphere was electric.

Obligatory chats of 'Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire', with Mark Ronson playing along on one of the tracks (Mark Ronson has produced their new album), and the lead singer of the Cribs helping out on another, with them playing some of their new tracks too (a couple of real barnstormers to come from them this year) it was a night to remember. Especially the bit when Ricky jumped off stage and ran through the crowd to the camera scaffold behind the mixing desk in the middle of the pitch and carried on singing from the middle of the stadium!)

And if you're interested, it'll be on BBC2 next Sunday night and I think it'll be on the Red Button this week sometime

I was there yesterday, and agree it was a briiliant concert. The atmosphere was superb. I saw them in Manchester a few months ago, but this surpassed it.

We were sat in the West Stand behind the dugouts, and had brilliant seats.

I think one of the biggest surprises belonged to Ricky Wilson (the lead singer) when he got hit in the gonads by what appeared to be an apple. When he jumped down off stage I though he was going to kill someone in the audience.

LOL. You must have been sat about a couple of metres away from me then

That bit was hilarious - didn't notice it was an apple - they were just finishing a song and he went 'Oooh. You fcuker' and lept off stage and went for the guy in the crowd. Was really funny.

A couple of pics (sorry for the crap quality - was on my iPhone);

"Ruby Ruby Ruby Ruby"

Ricky in the middle after sprinting through the crowd.

Oh My God I Can't Believe It!
