I can speed read - self taught from books on the subject - and if I adopt my speed reading techniques it is hard to read. If I standard read (read each word), it's easy.

The speed read technique I use is sometimes called scan and skim, and the key part of the technique is to search for signpost words. As the words are jumbled, there are no signpost words to seek.
