Check whether the company has a grievance procedure. If it does, it should be following that, so that's your first port of call. It should also (hopefully...) set out what should happen if the procedure's not followed. Also, have a look at Acas - Advisory handbook - Discipline and grievances at work - there's an advice booklet linked off there which gives you the basic outline of what should be happening and when. Meetings should be held "as soon as possible", and should be arranged as far as possible to suit the person who's raised the grievance. As it depends on circumstances (who took what action and when with regard to the grievance) and also - as ever - there are some exceptions, I'm not going to go into any kind of detailed advice without knowing details.
