Keep your young noses out!

I have a question for anyone around my demi-centurian age (pref a bit older) so all you kids reading this can go sniff a bottom somewhere else!

Is it just me or do you all feel increasingly angry and pissed off at everything. Late last night after SWMBO had retired I was coming to grips with almost total apathy in that I couldn't be bothered to do anything. I tried a book, some music and blast on the Wii and it dawned on me that I couldn't think of anything that I can realisticaly do that I would look forward to any more. I haven't even picked up any of my guitars for 2 or 3 years, I stopped diving nearly 2 years ago, I'm fed up with snooker ............ even drinking isn't any fun any more.

I'm even pissed off at myself for being like this because I never used to give a toss about anything apart from having a good time. I suppose I could have burned out my 'good-time chip' but ...........................

Am I just a miserable wrinkly or is this something everyone suffers from at 'a certain age' and, if so, why haven't I been told about this?

I need some herbal pick-me-up.

I dont think that an age thing mate you sound a bit depressed to me

I can suggest yoga, meditation and exercise and going out and doing the things you used to enjoy even though you don't feel like it. You will eventually get your mojo back

Sorry if i'm not wrinkly enough to reply to this but you can have my 2p anyway!

Go diving that'll sort you out.

Useful mantra when you just cant be arsed 'Just do it' - make yourself.

Bryan, I know exactly what you mean. I was in the very same boat as you. Fortunately circumstances prevailed which allowed me to get diving again but it could just as easily have been some other activity. You need to find something to keep your mind and body active and you're already a diver! I know time and money are tight but I'd look more closely at getting back in the water. I have a renewed interest in the marine life I see which exceeds anything I had before and just feel a sense of contentment underwater which is more satisfying than the macho thrill seeking of my youth.

Oh, and lots of sex is quite theraputic too aparently.

What about the Grumpy Old Men/Women TV series .............. they seemed pretty pissed off about everything (albeit exaggerated for TV)?

Oh it doesn't have to be with me. Anyone attractive will do.

You can't fight it I'm afraid. You need that nitrogen back in your blood and there are lots of us who'd be happy to help you do it.

Darn you youngsters coming onto forums whinging...

OK so I can't do things I use to but mostly they're things like decorating, gardening or mending the car and I like paying people to do them for me. A cleaner is next on my list of expenses.

I'm probably not growing old properly but it works for me so if you want to turn into Victor Meldrew do it somewhere else.

What's the problem with diving? What do we have to do to get you back in the water? Bribe your doctor? Mend your kit? Kick your posterior? All of the above? Just a shallow bimble...

My wife asked me if we should get a cleaner. I wondered why she thought it would make a difference to HER life!
