Well it doesn't because once a law has been properly proven, then you can't break it - as I understand it, nothing that has previously been properly proven to be fundamentally impossible has since been proven to be possible. Not so far anyway.

Statistically you are right, applying our own laws. As I said before - if you can bend or break those laws, what happens?

..........And you are falling into the trap of assuming that what you know & experience is real. How do you know it's "real"? There's a not insignificant probability that you are actually living in a simulation.

Just being gentlemanly. As long as I have this face, Ms Weaver will always have somewhere to sit.

Aliens - schmaliens, enought of the 'little green men' already - its all obblox - we are alone, learn to live with it. All that Area 52 or whatever, its a wind-up, there's nothing out there but big lumps of burning rock and once they fizzle out we are all history. In fact we won't even be history at all 'cos history needs people and we'll all be gone so nothing will ever know about the existence of Hitler, Cochise, Page 3, The Beatles, Big Si's near miss, Rachel Welch, Juan Fangio, Hiroshima, Rasputin, chips, Matt Damon, Florence Nightingale, Bobby Moore, cancer, Michele Pfiffer, Elizabeth I, Dinosuars, The Som, Bob Marley, bird flu, magnifying glasses, books, Maggie Thatcher, Ethelred the Unready, the Inland Revenue, Twiggy, Billy the Kid, surgical implants, Clark Gable, the Dopler Effect, LSD, cheese, manta rays, lucky rabbits foot keyrings, scissors, Jacobs Creek, shit creek, Nowegian satire, the BSAC, KFC, VD, AC-DC, pork chops, lamb chops, Ferrari's, Muhamed Ali, the Samba, PVC piping, Herman Goering, the Magna Carta, soldering irons, fax machines, picture frames, Clint Eastward, electricity, the chemical symbol for Mercury, rats, Bermudan shorts, Mrs Beaton, lemonade, Paddington Bear, Gucci, Fred and Ginger, Bill Gates, cement, Nelson, Pocahontas, Salma Hayek, frying pans, Dr Martins, shotguns, waste paper bins, CD's or even YD.

Berko

PS, Unless of course we all get saved by some kind of extraterrestrial force

I'd go along with this also.
I don't read those kind of books much these days so I'm not up to speed on current thinking.
What I have always found amusing is that whenever some group of swanky young post grad's tried to poke holes in Relativity Theory, looking for glory, they only ever seemed to return results which confirmed Einstein to ever increasing degrees of accuracy. I don't know if they have stopped trying yet but it looks like Relativity is prooved beyond all reasonable doubt to represent the workings of the universe on the large scale.

As for whether or not we are alone, well, I don't think that we are but it seems unlikely that any civilisations that presently coexist in the observable universe would ever come into contact with each other.

We may not be alone in space but we are surely alone in time.

Paul

Wouldn't it be sad if we were the most intelligent life in the universe.
