| Imported post I get a couple of these every day. What happens is the virus checks yer contacts list and is able to send an email to other people on that list from somebody else on that list - or that's how I believe it works. I just delete them.

| If you're receiving emails like these, it means that you're either currently virused, or receiving emails from someone else who is! DO NOT OPEN THE EMAILS OR ANY ATTACHMENTS THEREIN!! Delete them, immediately, without reading them!!!

| Imported post I've even had mails where the sender was supposed to be myself! This is just a trick of the software. basically I don't open any attachment unless I know the person, quite often I simply delete mail from unknown senders. |

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>Dear all, Sounds like "spoofing". Email spoofing may occur in different forms, but all have a similar result: a user receives email that appears to have originated from one source when it actually was sent from another source. Email spoofing is often an attempt to trick the user into making a damaging statement or releasing sensitive information (such as passwords). Spoofing can be a legitimate and helpful tool for someone with more than one email account. ***Remember that spoofing anyone but yourself is absolutely and undeniably illegal. You should not ever spoof anyone else, not even in fun*** To change your email identity, go into the mail preferences of your email client, or Web-based email host. Look for fields about identity. They will normally default to your email address and your name. You can change them to whatever you want. All the best, Ian P.S. - I like the word "spoof". Sounds good!

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>Hi folks, I haven't opened any of them, the anti virus picked them out. Normally the sender names are are just whatever, this one caught my eye. So could my system have a virus even when running the likes of Norton? Cheers John. I always see the spelling mistakes after I hit the submit button! |

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>John, Usually the email will come with an attachment such as a .pif file, .exe etc.. It's when you start opening these attachments that the problems usually start. So long as your virus definitions are up to date you should be ok. Do you have the email scan option enabled in Norton? If you have doubts just stick them in your deleted items or somewhere and I can pop over and check one day soon? Just to be sure run a complete virus check. Any probs, give us a call. All the best, Ian P.S. You should be studying!!!
