| I don't but I know the wife used to get a monthly allowance - about £15 but she is no longer based in the office. Andy

| You get an additional days annual leave as a first aider in my company. As a fire marshall you get an attractive high viz vest and are able to be 'important' in the event of an emergency. gareth. |

| I used to get paid when I did it. I also got paid when I went on the course, which for an Agency worker was very generous I think. Matt |

| I just do it because it keeps my first aid ticket up to date, I don't expect any extra money.

| When I worked for my old company I used to get paid for it. I can't remember how much exactly, it certainly wasn't much. £100ish a year seems to ring a bell though.

| I did the course out of altruism; then I found out I got paid a token sum every year Bonus! (I also got a 1st Aid kit to carry in the car)

| At ours you get around £15 p/m for either first aid or fire marshall I think.

| No payment for either. What you do get is a whole bundle of grief from building services who could not organise a p%ss up in a brewery. As a result both first aid and fire marshalls tend to be roles carried out by only the most junior (and often least able) staff. I have (briefly) been both before deciding that I did not have the tolerance to deal with building services. I remember watching one of our marshalls require assistance because, after a minute or two of trying, he could not work out how to pull the pin out of a fire extinguisher. I kid you not. He just kept pulling it parallel to the clylinders axis rather than perpendicular. If there is a fire here then every man for himself! |
