<font color='#0000FF'>Yesterday we went icefishing. On the sea-ice between the mainland and an island. Near the shore the ice was breaking up so we had to skip n jump to get out. Rather amusing really. If only they'd gotten away with those sissy poles and plank walkways :-)

Fully installed on the ice. That device my Kate is sitting on is a &quot;kick&quot;. Very handy in this part of the world.

Here we are, the whole family (A family of 8 actually according to the fishing contest records )

Kate got a cod. Actually it was just me and her that got anything. We ended up with 1kg altogether. I think the biggest fish caught in the contest was 5kg, with a max of 11kg catch for one person. In three hours.

I got my eye on this here. Future divetarget? &nbsp; (No, I didn't pull out the plug to speed up the process.)

Looks like &quot;climate change&quot; has finally reached the Orkneys then. &nbsp;

<font color='#0000FF'>Nope. Not this time. It's a great place to practise that stuff, though, since you have to worry less about freezing in saltwater.

And yes it was fun. For a while. What you can't see in those pics is the wind...

I remember ice fishing in Minnesota (see Grumpy Old Men, for the image!).

The wind is evil, so we sat there in a little sledge/tent with holes in the floor and little gnome fishing rods!

Great fun, but cold at -40
